Mohamad Mounir (محمد منير) is a Egyptian-Nubian singer, known for his innovative pop music. His style draws inspiration from Nubian folk music and Western infusions of Jazz - along with Arabic lyrics.
Nubia is a region which lies in the South of Egypt and on the Nile but only about 25% of it is in Egypt - the rest is in Northern Sudan, and it is the Egyptian region which Mohamad Mounir came from.
He has been singing since the 70s, but is still very popular today with young people.
The video below shows Mohamad Mounir singing his song "The Taste of Home" (طعم البيوت)
