Amr Diab (عمرو دياب) is one of the most famous and internationally-known Arab singers. The Egyptian from Port Said is popular not only in the Middle East but around the globe, with fans in every country, and has collaborated with British, Spanish, French, German & Dutch artists.
His music is extremely popular in Egypt, with his songs being played in every restaurant, cafe and booming from record shops, filling the street with his contemporary Arabic/Mediterranean pop sound.
Although he has been recording for over 25 years, he is still very much popular with the younger generation and often viewed as a 'sex symbol'.
His main competitor is Tamer Hosny - who has recently released an album at the same time as Amr Diab this year.
